A Wine Lover's Garden Design

This garden is located in Bad Dürkheim, along the famous German Wine Route. The region is known for its mild climate, the almond blossom and of course, it’s numerous vineyards.

The construction of dry stone walls is one of the oldest cultural techniques in the world to cultivate wine. We used dry stone walls to create three different plateaus. Small stairs lead from one terrace to the other. The garden has a symmetrical layout. Beds of lavender and santolina create all year interest. Local sandstone was used for the paving slabs, steps and walls. The pleasant sound of the water feature creates an atmosphere. A sandstone sculpture, made by a local artist, marks the endpoint of the garden’s main axis.
